John Powers - Landscape Architect

John Powers - Futurist / O & M Analyst

John has more than 32 years of management experience with local governments, special purpose districts, and non-profit organizations. Most recently, he served for 16 years as the Assistant General Manager of Community Services for The Woodlands Township, a community proudly holding the prestigious ranking of being named the #1 “Best City to Live in America” for two consecutive years by Niche.com.

John oversaw the Township’s nationally recognized and award-winning parks, recreation, environmental services, transportation, law enforcement, and neighborhood services departments, as well as covenant administration.

His service was marked by the implementation of major public-private partnerships, capital improvements, and funding programs, business plans that achieved 100% cost recovery, and technology advancements that improved operational efficiency. He has extensive experience in crisis management, organizational transformations and restructuring, and employee professional development.

He is a past president of the Texas Recreation and Parks Society which bestowed him with the high honor of the Dan Whitworth Fellow Award for his service and leadership. John is a Registered Landscape Architect with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Environmental Management.

Mark Johnson

MARK JOHNSON – TRAINING

Dr. Mark L. Johnson is a decorated university professor with degrees in Industrial Education and Vocational Education and honored by Toastmasters International as one of 3,500 Distinguished Toastmasters (DTM) in the world. His education and presentation skills align with his certification as a Master Trainer by the Association for Training and Development (ATD). These skills have resulted in Dr. Johnson's selection by the Entertainment Industry as their training consultant for the International Alliance of Theatrical Stagehands throughout North America. His training and presentation skills, coupled with Dick Horton's in-depth understanding of the park and recreation profession, overlay seamlessly with all the training needs of your park and recreation agency.

Crista Cunningham

CRISTA CUNNINGHAM – GRAPHIC ARTIST

Crista Cunningham started as a Typesetter at a local forms company fresh out of high school, which developed a passion for graphic design. Her skills developed after a spec art job at a local Yellow Pages firm. Crista attended Pittsburg State University to earn her Bachelor's in Graphic Communications with an emphasis in Graphic Design as well as a Minor in Commercial Art. Crista is currently a full-time Multimedia Graphic Artist and Photographer at an Education company in her hometown and owns and operates her freelance design business, Crista Cunningham Designs. Crista has proudly been a part of the Dick Horton Consulting team since 2010.

Jason Morado

JASON MORADO – MARKET RESEARCH

Mr. Morado has over 19 years of experience in the design, administration, and analysis of community market research. He has served as the project manager on community survey research projects for over 600 local governmental organizations throughout the U.S. Mr. Morado is experienced in all phases of market research studies, including survey design, developing sampling plans, quantitative and qualitative analysis, interpretation of results and presentation of findings. His areas of emphasis include citizen satisfaction surveys, parks and recreation needs assessment surveys, community planning surveys, business surveys, and transportation studies.
